Data modeling is an essential part of building the semantic layer. We know that it isn't just for developers and data engineers; data analysts and business users are also involved in data model evolution.

At Cube, we've championed a code-first approach to building powerful data models. However, we recognize that not everyone works in code, and there's a need for a no-code, visual way to define the data model.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Visual Model, a no-code data modeling experience in Cube Cloud. Now generally available, Visual Model enables non-technical users to participate in data modeling without writing a single line of code. It also complements the code-first approach and helps code-savvy users save time with a convenient UI.

Canvas for cubes and views

A few months ago, we introduced Visual Model in preview, and have iterated on it ever since, refining the UI and adding support for recent data modeling features such as hierarchies and folders.

What’s next?

Visual Model is now generally available to all Cube Cloud customers on Premium and above tiers. If you’re ready to transform how your team collaborates on data modeling, start using Visual Model today in Cube Cloud, or get in touch with us to learn more.
